It is important to let a child know that he/she is special...separate from every other person. The way to do this is with circles.

It is easy for a child to catch  “I am Me”...separate from others when he/she makes many circles for friends and family and keeps one just for himself/herself.

This is what to do:

Have your children draw circles on one or more pages in their notebooks.  Print the word Me in each one:  Explain that Me is our Common Name.  Everyone calls self Me.  Put his/her “given at birth” name beside one circle. Give the other Me circles a name....it can be Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Friends....

This activity can be in a school but for tiny tots it is probably one that takes place in a home where family members are present. Seeing the person with the name helps to make the Me Circles a reality.

This is not a one-time activity.  Keep adding circles to the notebook.  It is important to keep reviewing the circles.  This keeps a child remember he/she is a special “Me”. It is the foundation of individual character building.
